Packaging Facility Demo & Excavation

Description

Demolition of an interceptor trench system, warehouse and rail spur located on the bay front. Soil excavation and stockpiling of 34,000 cubic yards of clean overburden soil later to be used for backfill. Material required screening and crushing to meet backfill requirements. Cornerstone engineered a system of screens, conveyors and earth moving equipment to perform the onsite crushing. Efforts dramatically reduced project cost due to decrease of off haul of material and cost for clean import backfill material. An additional 15,000 cubic yards of bunker oil impacted soil was excavated and loaded for transportation and disposal. Impacted soil removal required dewatering and free product removal. During excavation an underground storage tank was discovered which also required cleaning and removal. Site restoration included backfill, final grading and hydro-seeding.
